"The Salisbury Dog Retreat" was born very much in our hearts after 12 months of huge enjoyment doing nomadic dog sitting whilst our Salisbury home was pretty much demolished and reconstructed - bar a couple of walls!
During this time we had the absolute privilege of caring for a gorgeous array of dogs locally and we loved every minute of caring for Beagles, Samoyeds, Labrador Retrievers, Springer Spaniels, Cocker spaniels, Rescue dogs, cats and chickens (!). Well - apart from when we needed to take poorly ones to the vet when it was obvious that they needed more expert assessment and medication. It's so essential to know your limit as a pet professional versus a trained vet. Moving every 2 weeks was less enjoyable but the next four legged friend swiftly made it all worthwhile!
Although Marie who largely works from home has predominantly been the main pet carer and source of expertise and experience - we have provided our pet services very much as a loving and caring family. Marie and Johnny together with their four children form a blended family and much enjoyment has come from working as a team with our very sensible daughters (aged 16-22 years old). There were no very young children to worry about.
We received nothing but praise from all of the very grateful dog owners and we have such fond memories of this time. Do please read the reviews for yourselves for peace of mind.
By profession - Marie is a HCPC registered Chartered Physiotherapist and has been in Salisbury since 2012 and continues to run Salisbury & South Wilts Physiotherapy and Harnham Physiotherapy part time and from home... allowing for lots of time to host and provide truly excellent care for dogs. Having been in a caring profession since 1999, Marie is perfectly suited to this role - where monitoring health and wellbeing is so important as well as providing much TLC. Marie has recently undertaken professional training under the supervision of a local Vet in Canine health and first aid.
Johnny has recently left HM Armed Forces having spent the last 35 years serving in the Royal Navy. HIs most recent post was the Commodore in charge of HRH Naval Base in Portsmouth - as Naval Base Commander. Johnny now continues his interests in engineering in a role with General Electric. You don't get many dogs at sea on warships so Johnny is really enjoying a new interest in learning about all sorts of dogs and is loving their company and affection. And is resisting getting his own dogs... for now anyway!!!
Tender loving care, companionship, and adventure awaits your furry friend at The Salisbury Dog Retreat. Our dogs really do become our long term friends.
Let us provide them with the luxury and attention that they deserve so that you can go away knowing that they are in the best of hands.
